Removing movement interpolation between animations

Hello forums, This is a tough one to explain but I'll do my best. In my animation, I have a shield object attached in unity2D. My animation curves are set such that the shield's sprite position bobs up and down with the players movements. My problem arises when I shift my direction of movement (ie, going west then going east). What will happen is the animation will lag until the shield object slowly pans from it's "west" positions over to it's new position in the "east" animation. My question is: Is there a way to remove this smooth movement? I would rather have the shield sprite "snap" to it's new position rather than slowly slide over, creating a few moments of lag. Sorry if this has been asked before, I wasn't sure how to word it.
